Camp Sunshine

Camp Sunshine, located on the beautiful Sebago Lake in Maine, was founded in 1984 for children with life-threatening diseases and their families. Families from all over the country make the trek to Camp Sunshine for a week away from the constant hospital visits and chaos of life.

The camp has brick walkways throughout its campus; each brick has the name of a person, organization, or business that has donated money to the program. As you journey down any given walkway, you can see the names of numerous Key Clubs, Circle Ks, and Kiwanis Clubs that have donated money to the camp.

Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute (KPTI)

KPTI, located at the Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, serves children from around New England and the country. The money we donate to KPTI helps the organization acquire state-of-the-art equipment for their trauma facility. In addition, our donations purchase books and other instructional materials used in the “I’m Safe on my Bike in New England” program created by KPTI. This program is used to educate elementary school children on bike safety throughout the New England states. KPTI has also teamed up with the Kiwanis Family of New England for the past seven years to hold “Kiwanis Family Safety Day: Bike Rodeos” throughout the district. More than 60,000 children have participated in this program and over 35,000 bicycle helmets have been distributed.

Children of Peace International (COPI)

Children of Peace International is a humanitarian organization which exists to serve the people of Vietnam by developing the capability of the people to help themselves. The children of Vietnam are those most in need of help in a country still recovering from many years of war. Children were the beginning and still are the primary focus for aid efforts of COPI. Most recently, the NED donated $25,000 to build a school in Vietnam.
